The Canada Goose Scam
The Canada Goose Scam resurfaces and this time with more legitimacy than ever before. Lately I have noticed so many websites faking people into believing that they sell legitimate Canada Goose Parkas and more at cut slash prices. And this being the festive season people actually fall into the trap of believing such websites since Black Friday till New Year is the time for heavy discounts.
A word of caution – Canada Goose never really sells anything online and neither does it endorse anyone who does so. Nevertheless, people actually feel that a website with the right combination of design, logos, and legality all are trustworthy. Fact is none of them really are. If you get a sale offer from any such website via your email or even on Facebook do not, I repeat DO NOT entertain them.
These scammers work hard to convince you that they have leftover stocks and wish to liquidate them thus recover some of the cost. That is how they manage to sell you product worth $800 at a hefty discounted rate of $250 and you end up charging your card for the same. Firstly, they get the money and secondly they request a verification of your details since almost everyone uses differing shipping address to their billing address. Citing the reason of trust, they often ask for ID proof copy and your credit card copy!
Yes, this is the scam that has been running since late 2013 and has continued on ever since then. In fact, email scamming is the easiest way to do this and people actually tend to believe such mails if it looks legit and has the right logos with high quality images of models wearing parkas and so on. Remember, it is actually quite easy to simply take images off the actual website and reuse them for one’s own scrupulous needs.
The Tell Tale Signs
- If a website promises hefty discounts beyond 30% there is a good chance it is fake
- If the website uses broken English and seems a little funny
- If when you make a payment they ask for your shipping address to be the same as your billing address
- If after payment, the mail you receive is in broken English
- If you receive a request to share your ID proof and credit card details
The moment you encounter any of the above mentioned signs, understand that this website is another Canada Goose Scam. Stay Away at all costs!
